Haitian Marketplace Exhibition
July 5th 2025, Galaxy Exhibition- Haitian Marketplace Exhibition at the Foundry in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Galaxy Exhibitions hosted an exhibition in Cambridge on July 5th, 2025, focusing on the vibrant theme of Haitian marketplace. This event honored that dynamic energy while also sparking reflection on the deeper social and economic realities that shape it.
Each painting showed the story of how people cultivate and survive despite persistent challenges. From the plantation fields where agricultural products are grown, to the open-air markets where they are transformed and sold, each painting reflected the resilience of Haitian people.
The agricultural sector in Haiti continues to face a lack of investment, limited infrastructure, and few opportunities for fair economic growth. This exhibition invited viewers to not onlysee the beauty of the marketplace but also the barriers that prevent it from flourishing fully.
For Haitian artists, the marketplace has always been a source of inspiration and a symbol of dignity in labor. Their paintings portray vibrant colors, crowded stalls, baskets overflowing with fruits and spices, and people engaged in honest work — scenes that reveal how art can transform ordinary life into something extraordinary. Through their brushes, artists create beautiful visions of spaces where people live, work, and dream of better futures. The Haitian Marketplace exhibition is a way to preserve cultural memory while envisioning what could be.
By bringing this exhibition to Cambridge, we aim to bridge communities — connecting Haitian culture and creativity with broader audiences who value equity, sustainability, and human resilience. It is also a call to recognize the ongoing need for investment in agriculture and the creative sector, both essential to Haiti’s path toward self-sufficiency and dignity.
We invited Loretta Gallery to join us and celebrated with our visitors this opportunity to network and show support to our artists.
